Review Acer Aspire ICONIA TAB W500 10.1 inch LED Tablet (AMD-C50 Dual Core Processor, 2GB RAM, 32GB HDD, Wireless, Bluetooth, Windows 7 Home Premium 32-bit)

Quite good actually
Acer's Iconia Tab W500 is a nice tablet to use, a little bit bulkier and heavier than the iPad and Android equivalent, but none the worse for it. Of course your getting the ever resource hungry Windows 7 Home premium as an OS, appears a lot of reviewers have an issue with Win' 7 on tablets but I've found the W500 runs smoothly thanks to the duel core AMD C50 cpu with...

Possibly the best WIn 7 tab out today
Hello,

I've owned the W500 for a month now and I can state that it's quite a funky little device. It plays 1080p youtube video with ease (make sure you change the ATI GPU settings to performance!) and after a quick tweak, manages to boot into windows in 32 seconds while out of the box, I'm afraid, it manages the same at just over 1 minute. Sure, we shouldn't...

I was looking for my first Android based tablet and i found this and the Asus transformer prime, and after reading several reviews i got the impression this was the more well built and solid product.
First of all the feel of this table is very good. It feels light enough to hold for a long time and the build quality is faultless. The screen is also very good just the right size and the quality if fairly good, its just like watching a 720p movie; but the best thing about this table has to be the battery life, ive had it for a week and ive only charged it twice after some moderate use.

Some of the things i don't like about this table is the screen responsiveness, if you tap the screen too quickly sometimes it wont recognize your touch at all and you'll need to tap again slowly. But the worst thing is that it feels like it could have done with a little more work on it because some of the preinstalled apps tend to crash on a regular basis and every now and then it freezes while browsing..................

This is a great device - not perfect but really very enjoyable to use - and something you feel good owning. I'd be more than happy to recommend it against any of the current or upcoming crop of £400.00 + 10 inch screen Android or Apple tablet computers. If you aren't too clear on what the options are the iPad 2 = Apple - whilst pretty much everyone else = Android ... Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 2, Asus TF101.

Overall though - I'd be surprised if you developed iPad envy and I don't think you'd be unhappy with this sat next to your friend and their iPad 2! If you're willing to play around a little this to get used to it - this will give you as nice a user experience as the iPad but with much more flexibility - imho.

This device uses Android 3.0 which is Google's current big project and it works really nicely. In fact the nicest thing you can say is that I haven't really noticed what operating system I am using. Ease of use has been the main selling point of the Apple iPod/iPhone/iPad devices - and it is really refreshing that the competition has caught up. Yay!.................

I love it!
This is a great bit of kit. Works a treat. Looked at a lot of tablets before deciding on this one. Great screen lots of ports, very fast and a working SD card. Decided to get the 16Gb version as I thought the 32Gb a little expensive. Installed lots of apps and HD games and still only used 4Gb. You can put all your movies, music and photos on the SD card to save main memory...
versus
Nice screen and build quality, but poor wifi, locked down, and lots of bloatware
I've only had this for a few days, but have found the wireless reception to be very weak, so it doesn't stay online in areas of my house that have good reception on our Mac minis or Asus EEE netbooks. Apparently, this is caused by the auto-update to Android 3.2, but should be fixed.

The other problem is the large number of intrusive and unwanted programs...
